If you’ve landed here, chances are your heart is carrying the weight of grief—whether from the loss of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or the deep ache of unfulfilled expectations. First, let me say this: I see you. I honor your pain. And I want you to know that healing is possible.

I’m writing this from my own space of healing. Recently, I had to navigate the heartbreak of a relationship that didn’t end the way I had hoped. The dreams I had built, the future I thought was unfolding—it all changed. And honestly? It shook me. But through it all, Reiki became my anchor, refuge, and way forward.


In this post, I want to share how Reiki has helped me process grief, clear emotional blockages, and find inner peace in a reality I didn’t anticipate. More importantly, I’ll guide you through some simple yet powerful Reiki practices you can use to support your healing.


How Heartbreak Affects Your Energy Body

Heartbreak is more than an emotion—it’s an energetic experience. When we experience loss, our energy field contracts. The heaviness in our chest, the lump in our throat, the exhaustion that seems to seep into our bones—all of these are signs of blocked energy.


Grief often gets stuck in three key chakras:

  • The Heart Chakra (Anahata) – The center of love, connection, and emotional balance. Heartbreak can create an energetic shield, making it hard to feel love—even for yourself.

  • The Throat Chakra (Vishuddha) – The center of self-expression. Grief can make it hard to speak your truth, share your feelings, or even cry.

  • The Root Chakra (Muladhara) – The foundation of security and stability. A deep loss can shake your sense of safety, making you feel untethered.


Reiki gently clears these blockages, allowing the energy to flow freely again. The best part? You don’t need to be a Reiki master to experience its healing benefits—you can start right where you are.


My Healing Journey with Reiki

When my heart felt shattered, I turned to Reiki—not just as a practice, but as a lifeline. Each time I placed my hands over my heart, I could feel warmth and release. Each time I whispered affirmations infused with Reiki energy, I felt more grounded.


The biggest lesson Reiki taught me? Grief and healing can coexist. You don’t have to be “over it” to find peace. You don’t have to pretend you’re okay to invite in light. Healing happens in layers, and every moment of self-care is a step toward wholeness.


Now, I want to share some practices that helped me move from heartbreak to healing.


Self-Healing Reiki Practice for a Broken Heart

This simple self-Reiki session is designed to help you move through heartbreak with gentle compassion. Set aside 10-15 minutes in a quiet space where you won’t be disturbed.


1. Create Your Healing Space

  • Light a candle or diffuse a soothing essential oil like lavender or frankincense.

  • Play soft, calming music or sit in silence.

  • Set an intention: “I allow myself to feel, release, and heal.”


2. Ground Yourself

  • Sit comfortably with your feet flat on the floor.

  • Take three deep breaths, inhaling through your nose and exhaling slowly through your mouth.

  • Imagine roots growing from your feet into the earth, anchoring you in stability.


3. Place Your Hands on Your Heart

  • Rest both hands over your heart center.

  • Close your eyes and take a deep breath, feeling the warmth of your hands.

  • Silently or aloud, say: “I send love and healing to my heart. I am safe. I am held.”

  • Stay here for a few minutes, allowing any emotions to rise and release.


4. Clear Stuck Energy from Your Throat Chakra

  • Move your hands to your throat.

  • Breathe deeply and visualize a soft blue light expanding in your throat area.

  • Whisper words of release: “I give myself permission to express my grief. It is safe to feel.”

  • If you feel the urge to cry or sigh, let it flow.


5. Anchor Your Root Chakra in Stability

  • Place your hands on your lower abdomen or thighs.

  • Imagine a deep red light grounding you, connecting you to the earth.

  • Say: “I am supported. I am safe. I trust in the unfolding of my life.”

  • Stay in this space for a few minutes, feeling the energy settle.


6. Seal the Healing with Gratitude

  • Bring your hands together in a prayer position.

  • Take a deep breath and say: “Thank you, body. Thank you, heart. Thank you, universe.”

  • When you’re ready, open your eyes and return to the present moment.


Additional Reiki-Infused Practices for Heart Healing

If you want to take your healing further, try these simple yet powerful daily practices:

  • Reiki-Infused Journaling – Before writing, hold your hands over your journal and set the intention to release emotions onto the page. Write without judgment.

  • Reiki-Infused Water – Hold a glass of water between your hands, sending Reiki energy and affirmations into it. Drink with the intention of emotional healing.

  • Heart-Opening Reiki Meditation – Visualize a soft green light expanding from your heart, filling your entire body with love and acceptance.

  • Reiki for Sleep & Restoration – Before bed, place your hands over your heart and say: “I allow my body and spirit to heal as I rest.”


Healing Takes Time—And That’s Okay

I won’t tell you that Reiki will erase your grief overnight. Healing isn’t linear, and some days will feel heavier than others. But I can tell you this: Reiki will hold space for you exactly as you are. It won’t rush you, judge you, or expect you to “move on.” It will simply support you in moving through.
