But the truth is, people-pleasing isn’t about being “too nice.” It’s a nervous-system pattern born from a time when you learned that peace, acceptance, or safety depended on how well you could meet others’ needs. Reiki can help you gently unwind that pattern and return home to your own energy, truth, and light.
When Pleasing Becomes a Survival Pattern
In her work on relationships and trauma, psychologist Abby Medcalf explains that trauma isn’t only about dramatic or violent events; it can also come from emotional absence, invalidation, or neglect. What feels minor to an adult mind may have been profoundly confusing to a child’s heart.
